Clerkships PDF Print E-mail

ALSA, the Australian Law Students’ Association, is looking to create a common clerkship guide, ensuring fairness among law students.

Gaining a clerkship towards the end of your law degree is an important step towards your career. Not only may this lead to a potential recruitment and job offer, however you will gain invaluable experience and a very practical based knowledge. This will also give you a taste of the working environment, and whether you really do want to head into that direction and pathway.

The way to find out about clerkships is to go on the selected law firm’s website, and many do have information regarding clerkships. It is usually a matter of sending in your resume and a covering letter. The length of the clerkship varies from firm to firm.
