ALTERNATIVE CAREERS GUIDE
Last year the education and sponsorship group from USALSA got together with FLSA (Flinders Law Students’ Association) to produce the Alternative Careers Guide (ACG). This has been an exciting project for both Universities as not only is it the first large publication USALSA with be distributing to it’s members but it is also the first of its kind in South Australia. This guide has been put together to showcase the versatility of a Law degree. It shows that no matter the profession, the skills attained by a Law degree are beneficial in way you couldn’t even imagine. We look forward to the ACG being published and also look forward to hearing any feedback to help us improve the guide next time round!!

LEGAL CAREERS GUIDE
We have also begun work on our own Legal Careers Guide over the summer break. This guide will be catered to the needs of our students, unlike other Legal Careers Guides this one will be aimed at what students should be doing during their degree rather then what to do once they are done. As we are not looking to have graduates until the end of 2010 this guide will focus on what to do now.
This will also be a free publication available for students to pick up. Be sure to keep an eye out for it in 2009!
ALTERNATIVES TO THE TOP TIER
Further to our own Alternative Careers Guide, you may be considering a job outside of the major fims. This year, ALSA has put together a guide to jobs alternate to working in some of the top tier firms. Their site contains a wide variety, from Federal and State governemnt, Legal Aid, regional positions and NGO's.
